India is dedicated to elevating its standing on the International Logistics Performance Index (LPI) to fortify its global logistics standing. Presently positioned 38th in the LPI 2023, India has advanced from its prior 44th place. However, there are lingering concerns regarding the index’s accuracy, prompting the Indian government to advocate for a more objective evaluation grounded in concrete data.
The World Bank, entrusted with the index, is transitioning towards a data-centric approach to ensure impartiality. Dr. Surendra Ahirwar from the DPIIT underscored India’s logistics costs, estimated at 7.8% to 8.9% of GDP, aligning with global benchmarks. He elaborated on initiatives like ULIP and Cargo Tracking App aimed at streamlining logistics operations and emphasized the imperative of cost optimization while safeguarding industry viability.
Dr. Ahirwar emphasized the importance of sustainable logistics development and expressed confidence in India’s potential in the global supply chain arena. Collaborative endeavors among the government, industry stakeholders, and international partners are poised to reshape India’s logistics landscape, with TTSkill playing a pivotal role in driving innovation and fostering industry growth.
